Questions

Is the kana chart free?

Yes. It's a free PDF with no sign-up. Print it, keep it and share it.

How long does it take to learn hiragana and katakana?

Put in a couple of full days and you'll know most of them. After a couple of weeks of watching with Japanese subtitles, reading them becomes automatic.

Should I learn hiragana or katakana first?

Hiragana first, since it's used all through ordinary Japanese. Katakana comes next and is used for foreign words, names and brands.
